What do you like best?
DameWare Mini Remote Control is a easy to use software with many (hidden great features, like the msi builder for software distribution for local clients. The Software also connects to your local AD, so finding Hostnames / User is very easy.
What do you dislike?
Definitly the UI, the software / symbols are not very intuitive and sometimes, i've to search for functions to long.
Recommendations to others considering the product
They have a demo version and some good resources. It doesn't take to much time to "go live" for basic functions.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We bought the software for our helpdesk, to connect fast to the users. We can now deliver support faster than ever, without leaving the desk for every small problem.
What do you like best?
Easily connect to any PC within a Microsoft domain or not. The installation on the client can be pushed through the network or deployed through GPO. A chat is also included and can be very helpful when you can't reach the user on phone. The program handles multiple monitors computers as well and features a few usefull Tools like an integrated ping function (useful when you reboot a computer and want to reconnect on it on completion. About nice features, there is a file transfer module, a screenshot tool, a remote keyboard/mouse lock and a print function.
What do you dislike?
There is a "maintenance expired banner" which is quite anoying because even if you close it, your remote PC will dedoublate the start menu bar...

There is a lot of remote desktop software but you should give a try to this one which is simple and efficient.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Our assistance department is using it to help resolving user problems ; it's always best to see user desktop and to show him what to do. Also we use it to connect to servers in order to execute regular tasks.
What do you like best?
There are several things that I like from this tool:
1. You do not need to install any kind of software/client/agent on the remote computer that you want to start managing. You only need to have local administrator rights on the remote computer, which will allow Dameware to install a service for the remote administration. This service can be removed once the remote administration is finished.
2. It is user-friendly and it is very easy to understand how it works. You can start managing remote machines in minutes.
What do you dislike?
The only negative point I see is that, compared to RDP or TeamViewer, Dameware is heavier in terms of bandwidth usage. That means that, in low bandwidth connections, it is slower than other tools.

If you need to administer remote machines in your network, this is the perfect solution.
There is one thing to consider: the version we were using was to control only devices in your network. If you would like to administer remote machines on the Internet, you should go for another solution.

I used to use this software when I had to provide support to the users. This tools allows you to connect to the user's computer and see what is happening in the remote machine or just to install a piece of software, update, etc.
What do you like best?
It's easy to use and allowed us to troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely.

The initial configuration when connecting to a client for the first time can take some time.

DameWare allowed us to troubleshoot and resolve issues faster by giving us the option to remote into clients computers instead of walking across campus or driving to remote locations.
What do you like best?
The ability to seamlessly remote onto user PC's with little to no connectivity problems. It is reflective of the user's workstation and has no limit of accessibility. All the shortcuts and functions are easy to use and manageable.
What do you dislike?
Sometimes, when you've initiated a remote session with a user and somehow get disconnected, it still assumes you're on the PC. Although, this is not a large problem, it causes a latency between getting connected. It has a waiting period where it assumes it;s asking you to share a session and then allows you access.
Recommendations to others considering the product
It's a great product with few flaws. The MRC Mirror Driver allows several different options and the control panel is expertly laid out for optimization.

The ease of access when communicating with users. There's no guesswork with what they're looking at.
