What do you like best?

- Documentation is severely lacking. The tool is extremly robust and I feel that I have only scratched the surface due to lack of knowledge.

We are trying to identify performance issues on our production server for Web Services application of both inbound and outbound transfers.
What do you like best?
I have a M30 Network monitoring device and it is a great piece of hardware. It does everything that I want it to do
What do you dislike?
I would like to see videos of the product on how to set it up correctly. I find some of the support documents do not make sense until someone shows you it. Also when searching documentation you have to be very specific what you are looking for
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They are very good on providing support, I have opened numerous tickets and they are very good at working with me. Some of the reporting is not clear but I have a pretty strong relationship that they are willing to take the time and effort to work with them.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I do a lot of voice assessments and I need to verify if the customer's network is ready for voice so I am able to use the unit to run simulated tests. I had an issue with bandwidth at one site and I was able to verify that the carrier did not provide the proper bandwidth for my site
What do you like best?
I like the support at AppNeta they are very helpful and knowledgeable of the product. I find that it is easy to setup the unit in no time
What do you dislike?
The training for the product it is not as easy to find the answers you want. You need to work with a support person in order to find the right information. There E-learning is not as great and they need to run more videos to show what their product can do
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I reccommend to use their support as often as you like because the courses that are available are not always directly related to the assessment you are trying to do. The product is easy to deploy but you must read all the documentation for the proper positioning of the unit

I am currently trying to find out why a client is experiencing jitter and clipping on all their calls. I am narrowing it down to a certain point in the hope that I can find out why it is happening
What do you like best?
1) AppNeta provides easy to start workflows. These are useful to get started and understand integrating of monitoring platform with web application.
2) In particular, TraceView helps to quickly identify trends in the performance. It helps to track, isolate or fix the outliers affecting application performance. The ability to monitor the application at all levels in the application stack is amazing.
3) Dashboard UI is quite easy to understand and provides a wide range of statistics about application under review.
What do you dislike?
1) It is a very difficult to understand product.
2) Documentation could be better. Some of the features require detailed steps for set up.
3) As the number of features supported is large, the learning curve can be steep.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely use the trial to evaluate whether it adds value for you, but it would be surprising if you could find a tool that does everything that AppNeta does.

While prototyping Twitter sentiment analysis project, I used AppNeta to monitor performance of our web applications. We also wrote User Interface(UI) test cases using selenium and tracked the performance of application by collecting tweets from multiple users located residing at different locations.
Database APIs were also tracked to find out performance bottlenecks.
Here are some of the useful and necessary features supported by AppNeta:

What do you like best?
One of my favorite features is the TraceView. It provides code-level, deep-request tracing for 90 days of operational data from all major development platforms, including, Java, the Microsoft .NET Framework, Ruby, Python and PHP. Performance issues at any layer in the software stack can be seen quickly.
What do you dislike?
Even though there are 4 different views (Trace, App, Flow, Path), I feel that many of those informations sometimes could cross views.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
AppNeta is one of a number of application performance monitoring tools that offers the capabilities to gather the needed operational and machine data to keep things running. If anomalies appear, the tools offer predictive analysis to quickly discover the root cause.
