VRV was an American video-on-demand streaming platform that catered primarily to fans of anime, indie animation, science fiction, fantasy, and gaming content. Launched in 2016, it was developed by Ellation, the same team behind Crunchyroll. VRV provided a bundled experience, allowing users to subscribe to multiple channels under a single platform. It was designed to unite niche content creators and audiences by offering a mix of free and premium options.

Unlike general-purpose streaming services, VRV focused on delivering community-driven and fan-favorite content. Users could either watch for free with ads or opt for a premium subscription to enjoy ad-free viewing and offline access. It was accessible on various platforms including web browsers, mobile apps, smart TVs, and gaming consoles.

Over time, several content providers left the platform, and eventually, in 2023, VRV was officially merged into Crunchyroll. Despite its shutdown, VRV remains a notable example of genre-focused streaming that prioritized independent creators and interactive fan engagement.
