Marg Wagepoint

It had an friendly interface that employees liked - but that's where the positives end! this is a classic minimum viable product. The developers don't know the first thing about actual payroll laws or requirements.

We have had endless issues with Wagepoint from miss filed tax documents to a systemic lack of awareness or best practice for payroll tax handling. They are a preditory company that sells to small businesses because they know small business can't afford to take legal action against them. I know 5 companies now who are still batteling the IRS over payroll tax miss reported or miss calculated by wagepoint software (this is systemic not user error dating back to 2015 - current.

These are basic mistakes including:

Developers didn't know what an scorp deduction was

*941s where filed on the wrong schedule

*state taxes where miscalculated

*pre-tax health care deductions where not calculated pre-tax

*promised integration with 401k took 6 months to complete - and they didn't understand the difference *between the taxation requirements for the various savings accounts we offered

*1099s where processed with the company EIN and the individuals SSN reversed...

I am writing this review in the hopes that I can save other HR departments of one from the headache we've been through.

Absolutely NOT

The only difference between wagepoint and intuit payroll (by quickbooks which we moved off of is the Intutit had solid tax calculations.

PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

The only good feature of this product would be the cost. It's very cheap, but you get what you pay for in the end. Wagepoint is not recommended. I stopped using Wagepoint earlier this year, when I switched to another payroll company.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Communication. Multiple times when I called to get help, there was no one to help. The only way to talk with a Wagepoint employee is to call the Sales line. There is never a Wagepoint employee available. Support staff is non-existent. You will likely leave a voice mail message, or have to send an email to get any questions answered. I called in to get the company W2s and year-end documents, and never received a call back. I had to hire an accountant to reverse engineer my W2s so I could complete my taxes. Do not use this service if you require any modicum of help or supoort.

What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?

Customer support of any kind. They are under-staffed and they cannot help you with no employees.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

None. They created more problems for me and my small business. Go elsewhere and pay a little more unless you like no support, extra headaches, and spending more money to cover for Wagepoint's staff and shortcomings.

Customer service that was actually helpful and would give you a phone call back instead of only through email. Seriously, terrible company.

Terrible. Spend an extra 5-10 per month and go with a company that will actually help you out. I have done payroll for over 20 years. Ive done it by hand and have used other companies. I decided to try to save some money and went with wagepoint. BIG mistake and ended up costing me more. I had an issue on one of my end of year forms that needed to get fixed. simple fix. or should have been but getting a hold of someone that knew what needed to be done and then actually getting them to do it was a nightmare. On top of that they charged me $400 to have it done. Fine, I paid it. It was partially my fault. They were supposed to make all the corrections and make the corrections so it wouldn\\\\\\\'t happen again. NOPE!. Shame on me I continued to use them for the next year. Lo and behold the next year the same thing happens and then they want to charge me again to have it fixed when I already paid them to fix it the first time and they never made the changes. OMG I am fuming mad writing this review. They make me so angry, and I am not an angry person. PLEASE do yourself a favor and go with someone that will actually help you out and not try to rip you off and charge you twice for something.
