PROS & CONS
What are the best aspects of this product?
The interface looks good, and the features it has would be cool if it were not for the software crashing frequently
What aspects are problematic or could work better?
It crashes without saving changes. the 3D CAD software does not behave appropriately with Upchain. Upchain will try to solve the problem by assigning inexperienced people. Overall, for the price, Upchain is just not worth it.
What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?
I would like it to work at a minimum level

The help page is not very helpful, and some of the buttons in the program do not work.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Lack of communication as to when something needs to be completed and by who. We are very early in our experience, so no real benefits have been realized yet, but i am sure this will happen once we start using Upchain more.
What do you like best?
Upchain has greatly improved our CAD handling. Our previous process involved a google drive folder. The ability to lock parts, revision control parts, and associate drawings/analysis/manufacturing files with a part in a way more elegant than a file tree has proven its use time and again.
The cloud based system was very easy to stand up for a small team without dedicated information technology personnel. It supported our team members both locally and at remote sites.
All other pain points aside, it's a powerful tool for ensuring everyone is working on the same models and isn't loosing work due to conflicts or disorganization.
The online view and measurement tool is powerful, useful, and awesome capability.
What do you dislike?
Upchain has several rough edges still. Their provided tutorials are often outdated by the time you see them, and it is frustrating for the program to behave differently than expected. Upchain does not support some of our processes well (such as tying free-text to configurations in Solidworks) . It is also frustrating that not all functionality is available in all places, for example, moving a part back to development has to happen in the CAD plugin rather than on the web interface. It's occasionally frustrating as you need to be in certain views (Project vs cBoM, etc) to do certain activities.
Doing in-house integrations with Upchain is proving difficult with limited documentation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Upchain is especially powerful to groups where not everyone is an engineer, have limited IT support, and don't have anything for PDM now. Teamcenter is more mature, but it looks like Upchain is headed in that direction, with additional functionality.

Upchain is providing revision and configuration control. Without a cloud based CAD solution our work from home engineers and representatives at conferences would be less effective.
What do you like best?
I like that it is easy to use and very self explanatory, making all of the jobs you do easier and simple. This software is very useful and keeps everything in one place so it is easy to find and pull back up into your memory
What do you dislike?
Clearly the cost is a huge downfall, but that is with anything. Cost has to be considered when defining what you are using it for vs what it is actually worth in order to do day to day business.

Consider the cost of this product vs. its competitors. This software is very useful and keeps everything in one place so it is easy to find and pull back up into your memory

designing and engineering across our inventory. It was great to have everything in one place but with that being said, we worried about confidentiality and safety concerns regarding our original designs.
What do you like best?
Rapid deployment model that shakes up the thinking of traditional implementation models. We will also be evaluating other areas of the product and pdm in the cloud.
What do you dislike?
Nothing as yet, as we are undergoing a product evaluation trial. Most features look promising.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its worth giving the min 5 license trial/full eval a go. Its cheaper than alot of traditional products to get a good feel of the product
