We upgraded to the business plan because we were led to believe from the product literature that the software could support a particular question piping use case that we needed. Having paid for the upgrade, it became apparent that the functionality did not deliver quite what we were looking. We immediately cancelled and requested a refund, and got the following response:"We wouldn't be able to issue a refund for the subscription as the upgrade cost covers access to the whole Business plan, which has been utilised since the upgrade date."It is certainly true that we used the Business plan internally for a couple of days to assess the functionality, but it seems a bit mean-spirited to argue that this is us taking advantage of the business plan features. I would advise anyone to think very carefully before upgrading, as if the software does not deliver what you expected, you won't get a refund.

A visually unappealing interface, very limited analytics and visualisation functionality, as well as confusing navigation. I hope that the reason is that I'm using an older version but since this is the version used across UK government I don't believe so.

This product is acceptable if all you want to do is run a survey and use the output provided by Smart Survey. But if you want to analyse the data yourself there are numerous problems. For example, a the downloaded data is all categorised as string variables, b coding that should be 'zero' becomes 'one' . c if you have used an 'other' response option, ticks in the box disappear on download and optional text response is inserted ( appears that there is missing data when that is not the case. Therefore pages of syntax have to be written before surveys can be analysed in statistical software packages
