What do you like best?
The system collects all the info we need from submitters.
What do you dislike?
It is not user-friendly. It is extremely difficult to view all the submission information at once. It takes multiple steps to do anything. It makes everything complicated.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at other options. It is not intuitive or user-friendly.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We used it for external submissions and got the info we needed, but beyond that the system was very frustrating.
What do you like best?
I've been using OpenWater since the beginning of the Year, my company has been using about a year. I also became a Master User in order to facilitate grant applications for four different programs. The company does not use OpenWater for all of it's possible capabilities, particularly scheduling and assessing conference sessions. It's typically used for application processes, and we don't even collect payment on the platform. There are so many ways that Open Water can be used, and the individual secure home-pages is a huge benefit of the platform. Overall, the responses I've gotten from customer service have been wonderful, though I am a SuperUser so I don't know what the general response is like. I have been able to master the basics of the platform pretty easily.
What do you dislike?
Some of its more rudimentary details, like moving and editing pre-fixed text make it difficult to use the platform for the different uses within the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would recommend selecting an appropriate Super User who will be able to master the platform basics.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We've been able to use open water in multiple different application review processes for both grants and peer nominated awards. The platform has helped to streamline our Grant Applications, we were able to move from accepting applications in email attachments, to a comprehensive review platform for judges and blinded application process.
What do you like best?
the ability to send out mass mail to participants based on triggers within the platform.
What do you dislike?
The user interface isn't particularly intuitive. The platform could be more user friendly from the administrative prospective.

Email applicants is substantially easier.
What do you like best?
I loved how easy it was to copy repeating programs from year to year and simply update necessary settings. The reporting features were nice and helpful. I also liked the adaptability of the tool to use it for things other than awards submissions.
What do you dislike?
UI was a bit of a learning curve, but once you're in there day-to-day, it's a breeze. Documentation was helpful though.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider it for easy awards management + other similar crowdsourcing applications!
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Awards submissions, judging, and application review. Reporting. Ability to get submissions for things other than awards (products to be featured on an upcoming web-feature, for example) It's a dynamic and agile tool that can solve many real world problems when communication and materials are necessary from your audience.
What do you like best?
I'm still learning all the nuances of the Openwater site that we use, but as I continue to learn I find new and better ways to operate the system.
What do you dislike?
The one thing I would REALLY like to be able to do is to refine the Bulk Assignments so that when nearing the end of a judging session, it would be possible to assign only submissions with fewer than 5 reviews to all the judging committee members. Currently, I have to go through and delete all the submissions in the judges' queues manually, which is a laborious process.

The benefits, however, are that it is easily possible to create rules in Bulk Assignments that make the process of creating and assigning categories to different groups a snap. Plus it is easy to pull reports.
