WRITE A REVIEWI am very dissapointed with mailfence and would not recommend their services. Their website has a lot of information about their service, but it's quite difficult to navigate and find. I did not find the information presented in a very clear manner. Their support team do reply to emails sent. The trial/free account does not give you the ability to test all of the features of the higher accounts, the only way to access these features is to subscribe (adding credit for 6months).The pro-account comes with an additional two free accounts... for absolute clarity - these are not accounts with the same features as the pro account - these are the most basic subscription so not very useful. They can only be used for webmail. If you want to create a sales@ support@ shared mailbox you have to buy a pro licence per mailbox. So as an example:sales(at)domain.com @7.50 - must be pro so you can share it.user1(at)domain.com - free (max 500mb mail)user2(at)domain.com - free (max 500mb mail)Seems all good - but, the only account that you could login on your mobile to is the sales one not individual users!. So you'd need 2 additional entry licences or 3 pro licences to make the service usable... You're now at the price point of two decent 365 accounts with inbuilt group capability and online microsoft app access!!The groups feature is clunky, non-intuative with a cumbersome administration and user interface. When you add up the costs of using the services to provide a reasonable service to a small group of users - it quickly becomes apparent that 'gmail' or '365' offer better value. (in my opinion)Be warned, when you signup, you are not presented with a contract or asked to agree with any terms and conditions - despite this when requesting to cancel (due to service not meeting needs) they pull out terms and conditions stating there are no refunds.... this is despite them taking a 6month prepayment (which they deduct from on a monthly basis). I have currently lost 45euros for a 6hour test drive of an unsuitable service. Please do not follow in my footsteps!I will update the review with outcome of ongoing battle for refund.
Mailfence does not work as it should and support is not solving it (prompting this review). It is only okay and has lots of drawbacks. 1) There is no option for longer session times, meaning you have to sign in every 8 hours. If you use multiple computers AND work at home where security is not as much of an issue, this is very onerous. I requested at least daylong or weeklong sign-in sessions (meaning you don't have to sign in) since I am working from home, like so many now, and MF won't change their hardcore policy. 2) My Mailfence email, aliases and custom domain do not receive emails and do not work for signing up for basic email lists. Support has not solved this problem. Told me to whitelist the domains and it didn't work. So the service does not even fully work! 3) There is no option for a classic, standard layout like Hushmail or classic Gmail. I can't even see who is sending me emails unless I slide over one of the columns. I requested a classic layout, but NOPE, we cannot change what we are doing. So, in the age where tech companies claim to be user-centric, Mailfence is rigid, and it does not even work all the time. When it does it is very fast, but that is all I can say about it. And as for the Docs function, if you think you can create a document and work on it in MF, you can't. You can either upload one already created or download it. It's somewhat useful from time to time, for uploads, but I cannot work directly in a GoogleDocs style workspace, which is what I wanted. When these private email services realize what people want and how they work now, then they will be a five-star review, if they work right. Until then, I'd have to say Mailfence lacks a lot of necessary functionality and I think I am just heading over to a new provider if I can't get their team to actually solve my issues. And I don't like their rigid inflexibility on key issues.
I use Mailfence in both professional and personal life and I feel secure. Every email I send is encrypted and I’m sure I’m not the product of it. The layout is a bit old fashioned though but it’s easy to get around it.
Trying out the free version of the email to see how it goes. The UI seems easy enough to use, some features need improving. You can password protect emails which is great. Haven't had any issues to require customer service's help to see how good they are in treating customers. Overall it's good. Still new for judging so might be back later to adjust rating... Mailfence is certainly better than protonmail. Protonmail UI is archaic and slow, their customer service is rude and their algorythms disable accounts arbitrarily. I recommend mailfence over protonmail.
I'm super pleased with Mailfence so far, and I'm a difficult person to please. I am using it in combination with my local email client (Thunderbird). I am testing them out as my likely upcoming replacement for my longstanding email service who I recently reached a breaking point with. In my search for a new email service, I discovered that Thunderbird "partners with" Mailfence, as well as Gandi. I figured one of those would be a good bet on working well with sending email from/out of Thunderbird without the issues I had been having recently with my longstanding email service, and my bet seems to be paying off so far. I paid for the lowest-tier paying subscription that lets Mailfence work with a local client, if I understood right. I would need to pay the higher subscription level in order to get the multiple mailboxes I'm used to, for directing ad-type email from companies I've created accounts with, but so far I'm getting away fine with instead setting up folders that I assign rules (filters) to, for directing email to my self-defined aliases. Really cool that we can define our own aliases, as long as they aren't taken by another Mailfence customer yet, which the display immediately lets you know. When my tests of filters and aliases wasn't working quite right, the Mailfence rep great at responding within about a day to my emails. I L.O.V.E. that the rep was the same rep each time, helping continuity, I figure, and all within the same email thread that continued for multiple exchanges. Dunno if that was a coincidence, but I liked it. He answered my questions immediately below each question... a rarity in the customer service field! It turned out that the errant alias-emails were possibly just a fluke; I'm on the lookout whether it happens again, and I know they'll be very responsive. I was told there is a more real-time conversation method (video maybe, I forget), but I haven't tried it yet. I like the flexibility that Mailfence offers, such as being able to use just their standard great TLS/SSL security without doing anything special, or setting up two-part authorization or setting up a key pair. Mailfence was a bit less user-friendly at setup time; I would have preferred if the interface walked us through screens, step by step, but maybe that was just "me." But after that initial setup, I've been very pleased.
