What do you like best?
If I'm honest, very little. The user interface is fresh and quite nice to use and I like the bolt-on product Payroll which you can add to Book-Keeping.
The email support team (which I have had lots of experience of are quite responsive, but don't necessarily achieve resolution.
Mainly, I bought on price and the price is less than the likes of Xero. However there is a reason for this!
What do you dislike?
I really bought in to the fact that I could link my business bank account (Barclays to the software to automate the flow of transactions. Before buying, the sales team were very active and constantly said this was not a problem. In reality, it does not work and it took several calls to both Kashflow and Barclays to establish this. They have now woken up to this reality and there is a statement that confirms this. However, the team that were very friendly and help in the sales process don't even reply to emails once you've bought!
Also, the settings menu is not very user friendly in book-keeping unless you have accounting experience. I now understand why Kashflow was recommended by an accountant!
Also, there knowledge base is terrible. Even searching for a term such as P11D returns no information on the Payroll product. and searches often take you through to their IRIS support pages rather than Kashflow product.
Finally, on the Payroll product, I experienced an incident with the software which I felt was a problem with the software. There is no audit trail for the support team to refer to, therefore, they could not identify whether the issue was user created of a bug in the software.
Also, there software issued P60's with errors and had to re-issue the P60's a month later, more admin for me!
All this and I'm just a basic two-man band with simple requirements!
Recommendations to others considering the product
I wish I'd gone with other peoples recommendations where were for other accounting software.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Book-keeping and payroll. Good for submitting monthly tax & NI filings without the need for an accountant.
Very hard to use. I have studied 3 years of accounting in University and I build financial reporting dashboards for my clients but I fail to correctly submit the bank statements and reconcile them.The interface is not a smart one and seems like customers and their customer service too are struggling. Do not use them, pay an accountant!
Have had to spend days now moving all of my data over to a better more user friendly software (FreeAgent because Kashflow has various bug problems the company refused to fix in a timely manner.The main issue was that my HSBC bank feed would no long inport the data, so I feel behind by 3 months worth of accounts as it was too tricky to manually upload all of my data.Also theres some issues submitting VAT.
I have been with Kash flow for a quite a few years now. Over time its got slower and slower. Crashes allot. Tried on about 10 different computers,BUT WHAT IS THE WORST THING IS THAT- They gave all my sales people permission to sensitive business information like company profit and how much people get paid! I had to delete every one as a user! This rendered the software not usable. Truly shocking service. Customer service offered 0 help.Only take on kash flow if you are 1 man band. It will do what you need it to do.John N
Tried the trial to check it out as its integrated in to the billing system I have decided to use.Ohhh that's where the trouble starts. First of all the signup page was broken and not doing anything. Quick chat to support and I was goingThen, it has issues matching payments to invoices correctly (A payment of 6.99 to an invoice for 6.99 showed 1p owing and overdue.A week of arguing with support that there was an issue goes by and eventually this gets flagged to the development team (or so they tell me, there's no way of knowing this. 4 days later, still no reply.3 days ago I submitted a formal complaint as this is ridiculous, as you can probably guess, no reply.This is stupid. Do not use Kashflow, find an alternative and be happy with your life.
