I honestly can't think of much of anything that is useful. Using this program has been an absolute nightmare both in terms of managing a review and in using it myself.

The search functions are horrible. There is no way to highlight key words like there is in Relativity unless you do a specific search for those words. The terms and connectors are different than is the industry standard used by Westlaw and Lexis. For some reason they make it nearly impossible to delete a tag if you no longer need it. The program creates these stupid 'sticky notes' that contain attorney notes which are easily missed and close to useless. I have never gotten such a headache from using sub-par software before. Also, you can only get review rates if you batch the documents.

Don't do it. Spend the extra money and get Relativity.

We are using this for e-discovery obviously. The only benefit I have is that it is relatively easy for me to create my own tags. More than anything, this program creates roadblocks rather than solves problems.

Eclipse does a decent job at organizing document production. Once you have extensive training on the software you can begin to navigate it.

Eclipse is very very user unfriendly. It is very complex and I am sure there is a better alternative. One must be trained very very extensively to understand or navigate the software.

Be prepared to have to teach users extensively for them to be proficient

We use eclipse to organize document production for our co-counsel or opposition. We store large documents here for our reviewers to go through and add billable hours.

On a positive note, Eclipse is at this point fairly mature. There's a plug-in for any open source project, programming language, or popular ALM product you can imagine.

The project to support JavaScript editing in Eclipse is called JSDT (JavaScript Developer Tools. As of the middle of last year, JSDT is part of the WTP (Web Tools Platform project. I tested JSDT 1.5.1.

The small footprint, you can install this on any machine and be working within hours. For those who are used to using Concordance but are tired of the lack of features, this tool is what you need. You can process data and load it straight into a database, this is great for a small review. You can unitize documents on the fly and produce documents with ease.

The record limit is a bit off putting, also the fact that this is not a SQL type database, so you have no backdoor to your data. I dislike that features that are available in Eclipse SE may not be available in the full scale offering of Eclipse.

If you are looking to work with an eDiscovery tool but have off put by the high pricing and sheer complexity of the interfaces, then this software is for you. You can process documents and load right into the platform. This includes some metadata extraction, OCR, and even tiffing if you have the correct setup.

This tool has allowed us to work with smaller firms with smaller budgets and still give them top tier service and support while maintaining a level of convenience that our clients have been accustomed to.
