What do you like best?
To give a background. We are a startup and had been using Fullstory for almost 2 years. The product is good with features such as:
- Checking live sessions of users (which you can check in Hotjar too)
- filters based on what actions users has done.
- Good UX for team members
The onboarding is also seamless, since you need to integrate a tiny bit of code. You can get started within a day.
What do you dislike?
Pricing. Pricing and only pricing. It turns out to be really expensive for Startups. The cost here could go as high as your monthly AWS costs. Which is just crazy.
If you are a price-conscious startup, I would not recommend using it. There is a value add, but it can be provided at the appropriate cost by other companies such as Hotjar, Mouseflow or Inspectlet.
The pricing is based on the number of sessions. So, it would seem fair to give the users a way to delete older sessions. However, that is not the case here. In addition, they don't have the capability to eliminate redundant sessions which are say less than 5 seconds. All these situations add to your pricing, and could really lead to a cost of 700 - 800$ per month.
The data storage is an additionally charged parameter. All recordings older than 1 month are not accessible. If you want it, you would need to pay extra. That could lead to over 1000$ per month.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The only recommendation I have is for small to medium size Startups. The current pricing is more focused on Enterprises, so it might be a bad fit for you.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
From a UX perspective, Our design team needs to understand the different flows and the frictions that users experience on our platform. Fullstory provides a video session play that helps us closely relate to the user experience.
It's also useful for Product Managers. Say, if you release an experiment today, and want a quick feedback of how your users are interacting with it. You can check out the sessions easily.
Nevertheless, this feature is provided by tons of other tools mentioned above. Take a conscious call before choosing the tool.
What do you like best?
I liked the playback functionalities rendering which is more accurate than hotjars. Dropdown do not render well though.
What do you dislike?
Lot of minor bugs and the product seem to promise more than it delivers. The dashboards say one thing first then something else later. The UI leaves lots to wish for, hotjar is way more intuitive. Quite a lot of reload bugs. I used it now for 4-5 hours and report on bug an hour. Not what I usually have to do...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If playback is your primary concern I would choose Hotjar or any of the others. I do however believe this product might be valueable if they just step up since the ideas behind are interesting.

We are redesigning our web pages and forms based on the website visitor behavior. It's most useful during the initial phases of web development. After that, the usage is pretty limited as we don't add too many pages on a weekly basis

Ability to see how website visitors are browsing the website, understanding the browsing patterns, where visitors are spending more time and where visitors are spending less time.
