What do you like best?
The sheer volume of compatible apps and SDKs mean I can keep tabs on what's going where, with detailed analytics.

The subscription deals are few and far between, it seems new customers are favoured over existing.

Provides connectors for a wide range of data sources, but unreliable services as data is often missing
What do you dislike?
Unreliability with maintaining our data, as it often disappears for prolonged periods of time without a suitable explanation and no updates during the outages. These have happened FREQUENTLY over the past month.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the long-term implications of getting boxed into a provider with unreliable services, when you really have no other option but to stay with them

A single entry point for all of our data sources and a consistent way of storing and backfilling the data, scheduled refreshes and updates, and consistent data formatting
What do you like best?
Fivetran is mostly automated, does not require much attention beyond initial setup, unless you have problems. Graphical interface makes synching easy.
What do you dislike?
You aren't completely in control. Fivetran is a black box, and when there is a problem, it's really difficult to diagnose. Their support line is no prize, either.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Develop a good relationship with the company or else fixing problems will be very difficult.

Syncing external databases which we cannot control.
What do you like best?
- Easy to set up and configure
- Great support when it comes to setting up connectors
- Good choice of connectors
- For the connectors where it works, Fivetran performs very well
What do you dislike?
- Fivetran is not scalable for large datasets, when it comes to binary log syncs. We have run into problems from day 1, as we have 100s of GB worth data to be synced from a single connector everyday. It has been over a month since the issue was first identified on Fivetran's end but there is no resolution in sight or even a timeline to resolve the issue.
- Fivetran's customer support is not very helpful as you have to constantly reach out to them for updates. On occasions, it takes them days to reply on threads or provide plausible updates.
- Fivetran sales team provided great support for 15 days before purchasing the product. But once the contract was signed that level of support was no where to be found.
Customer support is an essential service when buying into ingestion tools, especially at the premium price of Fivetran. But Fivetran fails to follow-through on scalability and customer support, from our experience.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fivetran provides a 15 day pilot period, where you can use the tool for free and evaluate the tool for your needs.
I would say evaluate your data source connectors thoroughly before purchasing Fivetran. We did not connect our live database due to security reasons, before purchasing Fivetran. But it turned out to be a mistake as Fivetran has failed to perform well on one of our production source.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
- We are trying to bring in data from multiple sources and build a central data repository. Fivetran has helped with easy setup on data ingestion and that has saved time for us in terms of building different data connectors in house.
What do you like best?
Everything in regards to consumer data and site that provide assistance with data analytics are housed in one spot for easy access.
What do you dislike?
The user interface is not too user friendly. Could use a bit more work.

Make the website more user friendly by providing more information in the resources section.
