What do you like best?
I like to have cloud-based backup of data.
What do you dislike?
I lost a week's worth of work by not realizing that Egnyte Connect does not save a Word document until you EXIT THE DOCUMENT. During a two-week period, I was aving my work through the Word "save" function, but there was no cue that the document was not actually saved. My 100+ pages were lost when the computer crashed. I rebooted, and the saved versions of the document were gone. This is a super-serious flaw for a cloud-based mapped drive. SAVING SHOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I lost a serious amount of work with Egnyte Connect. Egnyte Sync works better, but I have experienced difficulty in saving work with Egnyte Sync as well. This makes Egnyte very seriously flawed and I have migrated all of my work to Onedrive to ensure that I never lose work again. I appreciate the cloud sharing that Egnyte provides.
What do you like best?
Able to organize and search is not helpful.
What do you dislike?
The mapped driver version is very slow and not useful at all.

Good overall software.

Ability to share, organize and search large data files is pathetic.

Nothing I find it very restrictive, and user unfriendly for people than need to send files to me.
What do you dislike?
Everything, I much prefer WeTransfer, the Production Industry in SA used WeTransfer without issues. Easy.

No benefits
We gave it a shot for our remote team in VFX industry. We're a remote studio, and generally files are pretty heavy. So it was pretty painful and buggy, when desktop app made the other apps crash and force to restart. So when we realized that this is the case and can't be solved (and it was giving us huge issues - time lost, work lost), we decided to migrate to a different solution.And then we were notified (cherry on top!) that according to their T&C there's a 30 day notice cancellation policy, so we will be billed again even when we're not using it.Poor interface, buggy, and no customer care.
What do you like best?
Egnyte is OK if you only want to send file sharing links to others.
What do you dislike?
As a cloud-based file server in a Mac OS environment, Egnyte is an unmitigated disaster. We had constant problems with files disappearing, files not being visible on the desktop level, files being locked, file versioning problems (what they call "conflict copies"). We placed countless service calls to resolve various serious issues, which sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. Not recommended at all, at least for a Mac-based workflow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Implement your own internal server and use another service for file sharing.

Sharing files. That's it. Of course, you could do the same with other file sharing services.
