What do you like best?
The amazing ease of setup and low overhead. Very powerful and refreshing, to find a tool that just works is very rare nowadays. I love the script readability that can be provided to other team members to help them create scripts easily too. Incorporating into CI/CD tools also feels so much easier.
What do you dislike?
Not much right now :) I guess the true test is in time.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Automation of business critical functionality for a large Investment firm. The ease and speed of script creation to make quicker delivery is the greatest benefit. Script readability is also so smooth.
What do you like best?
Quick feedback, easy integration with existing work pipeline
What do you dislike?
No cross browser testing (yet). Still using other solutions for IE specific testing
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Increased reliability and speed of integration tests.
What do you like best?
Cypress has clear and very helpful documentation, and it often has anything that you'd need to ask about while writing your tests.
What do you dislike?
I haven't personally found best pattern to improve readability of the callbacks and closures. It's great once you have got used to it, but things like querying multiple aliases or wating for many requests could ressemble the familiar callback hell pyramid that could look daunting to many JavaScript developers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take a moment to really read the documentation, and first implement what's recommended.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Cypress has dramatically improved my workflow, and the "test-for-free" part I read somewhere in the documentation is totally true.
What do you like best?
The best think I like about Cypress is how easy is everything. You don't need to wait for events, easy install (npm and Docker)...
What do you dislike?
The worse thing and very important for me is the Browser compatibility. Right now it only supports Chrome. I think would be amazing to have at least Firefox and Edge.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for something easy, fast and where you can see each test individually (visual), go to Cypress. However, if you need to think about compatibility with browsers probably you shouldn't.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Basically e2e testing. We didn't have any because the learning curve was very huge and installing it was very difficult. For example, Puppeteer only supports Chrome and now Firefox, but it's really really hard to install it in Docker and as well to use it.
The main benefits have been being able to do e2e testing in a easy way and also visual testing.
What do you like best?
Few Best things about Cypress:-
First, Setting up in a existing project is very easy and straightforward. Define in your package.json as a dependency and you are good to use Cypress. No external dependencies required.
Secondly, Auto -reloading option of Cypress which is saving a lot of time as we don't have to start the server again to get the changes. It's almost like the hot-reloading.
Another thing, Cypress tests are written using Mocha and Chai, the syntax echoes what most Javascript users understand.
Last but not least,It's free and open source where you can also contribute :)
What do you dislike?
Cypress doesn't support multi browser testing at the moment which is pain for us. It only supports Chrome based browsers at the moment.
Cypress eats up lot of resources of the system when you try to run parallel tests. Sometimes the system hangs.
The team looks promising and they are having plans for improving these on their roadmap.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I don't think a recommendation is needed for Cypress. Every company which requires end to end tests should try this . It's free, open source and there are various community rooms for this where you get a lot of help. You will never feel alone.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We are trying to run end to end Integration as well as Isolation(with Mocks) test in the CI system which will greatly help our delivery model and reduces human errors.
