Marg Camtasia

Intros and exits are good, but not much else.

Camtasia is not easy to use and is not worth the money. I have been very disappointed in this purchase. I would much rather use Screencastify and iMovie. I have had so much frustration with this product. I wish I would have never purchased it. When I go back to projects files are missing, it just shuts down for no reason and my past projects are not housed in Camtasia for me to go back to. Extremely disappointed.

Easy to learn and use. You can create videos and record videos with ease.

Always forced to pay more (seems like an annual subscription) and after saving files in Camtasia format, if the file is ever moved you'll lose access to all your work. Seems like a basic thing but a huge time killer. I open the file where its located on my PC yet its lost due to camtasia failure.

Easy to use although not a perfect UI. The best news is that it's well-supported and not so huge that you need to upgrade your computer to use it. I had started off with another program that I'd used in other jobs and moved to Camtasia rather than requesting new hardware. It makes creating and animating videos easy and intuitive.

Small annoyances, especially when moving from PC version to MAC version. Like the PC version has a library you can add often-used elements to - the MAC version doesn't. Every shape or word you add has a default drop shadow, so you have to delete that from every single element you create within the program. The background is black - not easy on the eyes- and it's not easy to see a border between areas of the screen that you want to adjust.

Editing to report that suddenly the software is crashing every time it is opened and is no longer usable. Support has not been able to help so far and doesn't think they can help until tomorrow, leaving me in a tight spot with a video due tomorrow.

I typically use camtasia to record virtual presentations. I like that when you are pointing to something on the screen within the presentation, you can set it to detect that and it will zoom in to what you are talking about. I also really enjoy the cursor call outs feature.

I find it a little bit difficult to use. It is definitely not that user friendly for someone who does not have much experience with those types of software. I do however, take advantage of their online training. If you go to their website, they have a few resources to learn more about the product.

I like that the software gives you a lot of control over small time increments. I have worked with another video creator that only allowed for 1/4 second increments. That sounds small - until you want to make very fine point adjustments. But Camtasia allows you to be very granular in your adjustments

I also like that it is easy to capture a screen recording, and then do a voice narration over the top of it after the fact.

Would be nice if there were more free assets included, like a bunch of music options as well as sound effect options. But really - the features are good in the software.
